Siri continues to give voice feedback even though feedback is set to "Off" in preferences and the mac was then rebooted. Please advise.

Thanks for this important suggestion to evaluate simple fixes. Updated to 12.6.1 and rebooted without any change. Siri continues to give voice feedback even though feedback is set to "Off" in preferences.

I could try macOS 13, but since 12 is still supported this shouldn't be necessary.
I can go through the usual of safe mode, disabling extensions, especially new extensions, "odd" applications", etc. But I'm hoping a fix has already been identified by someone else. I suspect others have already resolved this issue with 12.6.1.

You should update Monterey to the current 12.6.1 version and see if you have the same issue.
You're welcome. It could be something you have installed or it could be a corrupt .plist file etc. It's not Monterey per se. Might be hard to track down.
