IOS 16 Sleep mode not turning off at Wake Up time

I've been using the Sleep/Wake Up time from the Health app

for years now and I really enjoyed it, but this morning it did not work and the

sleep mode was still on when I woke up. I've made many tests during the day

since I just got a new apple watch and I wanted to see where lies the problem.

At first glance, even when I have the watch turned off this doesn't eliminate

the problem, therefore I think the problem comes from the latest IOS 16. Nevertheless,

I can't find any other post that is talking about this issue.

All the test that I have made did not sound the alarm from

the Sleep Mode, but it is working fine with the alarm setup in the Clock app.

Still, after this alarm sounded, I have to manually remove the Sleep Mode since

it will now stay on all the time after it has been triggered by the Health app.

It will not go off with the Wake Up time as previously mentioned.

Hello, Stass23.

Thanks for getting back to us on this and for making sure the devices were updated. Since this is specific to the Sleep app, review this article and make sure you're getting accurate results: Track your sleep on Apple Watch and use Sleep on iPhone - Apple Support

"Get more accurate results with your Apple Watch

If you paired your Apple Watch after completing Sleep setup, you can still turn on Track Sleep with Apple Watch. In the Watch app on your iPhone, tap the My Watch tab, then tap Sleep. Then tap Track Sleep with Apple Watch to turn on this setting. To get the most accurate results when wearing your watch to sleep:

  • Turn on Charging Reminders. On your iPhone, open the Watch app and tap the My Watch tab, then tap Sleep. Tap Charging Reminders to turn on a reminder on your Apple Watch to charge before your Wind Down time. If your watch battery dies, it won't track your sleep data.
  • Make sure that you're wearing your Apple Watch at a comfortable fit. If your watch is too loose, the accelerometer might register too much movement during your natural sleep."

If you're still unable to resolve this, contact Apple Support. They will look further into this with you.

Best regards.

Hello Stass23,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We'll go through some questions and a few steps to help narrow down the underlying cause.

  1. Do you have a Sleep Schedule set or do you just enable a Sleep Focus?
  2. Does your Sleep Schedule have Wind Down enabled and does it go off without issue?
  3. Do you have any other Focus modes setup? (ex. Work, Personal, etc)
    1. If so, do these modes work without issue?

We'd first recommend making sure your iOS is fully updated to version 16.1:

Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

Also, you mention enabling Sleep from the Health app. Do you mean your Sleep Schedule enables or starts at the set time? Or do you have to enable it?

We look forward to hearing back from you and working on this together.

Take care.

Hi Soosie_J215

I will try to respond to your questions in order.

  1. I have a sleep schedule set. It has been set for a long time and was working nicely before I installed IOS 16.1 and I connected my Apple Watch the other day. Then the day after until now, I can't make it wake me up in the morning .
  2. I have Wind Down set at 45 minutes, but to tel you the truth there is no explanation on what is does, so I’m not sure what this does, therefore I didn’t change this setting in the pass.
  3. I don’t have other Focus set up and I don’t use Focus except the builtin Focus with the Sleep Schedule.

my iPhone and watch were and are still on the latest IOS revision.

I have a normal schedule set, but for the test that I did to troubleshoot my problems, I was also programming new schedule.

Thanks for your help,
