Syncing Apple Music for Android with iTunes on a PC

I have a rather curated music collection in iTunes on my PC. It consists of many CDs accumulated over the years that were ripped into iTunes as well as many songs purchased in iTunes. I haven't purchased a new CD in over 10 years. since then it's been all iTunes purchases. My music is all ranked with 1-5 stars the smart playlists update when a song is played so that depending on how much I like a song it goes off my playlist for a time so that I don't hear the same songs all the time, even my favorites.

I used to use the apps iSyncr and Rocket Player in iTunes. They did a great job of syncing my iTunes library and updating playcounts and changes to smart playlists. It recently changed ownership and even though I had previously purchased the apps, they now want to charge $13/week to use the sync feature. I need a new music player on my phone. I have considered getting an iPhone but am not convinced that it will work like I want with iTunes on my PC. I don't want to have to buy a new phone and computer to access music that I have already purchased.

I have tried Apple Music on Android but I still have a few questions:

Can I use Apple Music for Android with just the songs in my iTunes library or do I have to also pay the monthly subscription?

To get access to my music from old CDs, would something like the Match service through iCloud

work?

Apple Music did not ask me what I wanted to download to my phone. It just downloaded everything without DRM protection. I only want to download the music from certain smart playlists. Is it possible to do this on either Apple Music for Android or iOS?

If were to use Apple Music on an iPhone and transfer my iTunes music to Apple Music on a Mac, would they synchronize so that I could play my music on the iPhone without having to pay a monthly subscription?

Thanks, Robert

"The Apple Music subscription includes an iCloud Music Library sync"

That's what I heard, but I've never been able to sync my iTunes library via iCloud to my Apple Music for Android library. Nothing anyone has suggested has helped. This is true for me and every other Android user with this issue I've followed. Apple Music support is useless and clueless if you use Android. Such a disappointment. Make my day and prove me wrong.

Hello,

You have a few questions in there but I can only address one of them with relatively minor background knowledge. Hopefully more answers follow mine.

In my understanding you can either use iTunes Match or an Apple Music subscription. The Apple Music subscription includes an iCloud Music Library synch and the Apple Music catalogue whereas iTunes Match is just the synch service. Both require different paid subscriptions to use though.

Subscribe to iTunes Match - Apple Support

"iTunes Match gives you access to all of your music on all of your devices, even songs that you've imported from other sources such as CDs.

About iTunes Match

iTunes Match uploads your music library from the Apple Music app on your Mac or iTunes for Windows on your PC. Then you can access your music library on all of your devices that have Sync Library turned on.

To subscribe to iTunes Match, update your Mac to the latest version of macOS. On your PC, make sure that you have the latest version of iTunes for Windows.

iTunes Match isn't a back up service, so make sure to always have a back up of your music collection before you make any changes."

Turn on Sync Library with Apple Music - Apple Support

"If you subscribe to Apple Music, you can turn on Sync Library to access your music library and music that you've downloaded from Apple Music on all of your devices."

I hope this helps.
