How do I stop Apple Watch changing timezone?

I work on a cruiseship that travels between Sweden and Finland. Onboard we constantly have Finnish time. If my phone is not near my Apple watch it changes the time to Swedish time. How do I prevent this happening?

Apple Watch Series 6, watchOS 8

Thanks, I do have mirroring on and iPhone is always in Finnish Time Zone. Wireless does not work on board plus if go running in Stockholm yime zone changes and stays in Swedish time zone until I come back near my iPhone 13 ProMax. My Apple watch is series 6. It has been like this after I changed my series 5 watch to 6, or when I changed my iPhone 10 to 13 ProMax (I did both changes about the same time) I have at least two other colleaques who have the same problem.

Greetings djmoo,

This information should be mirroring your iPhone. Is this a recent change or has it always happened? You mentioned it happens when your iPhone is not nearby. Is your Apple Watch connecting to a Wi-Fi network onboard? If so, does the network put out Swedish or Finnish time?

You can test by placing your Apple Watch in Airplane Mode next time you will be away from your iPhone to see if things stay the same on your Apple Watch. This should prevent it from connecting to any Wi-Fi networks. Use Airplane Mode on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Apple Watch

Turn on Airplane Mode

On your Apple Watch, touch and hold the bottom of the screen until you see Control Center, then swipe up, and tap the Airplane Mode button. You can also go to Settings and tap Airplane Mode.

Thanks.

Hello djmoo,

Welcome back to Apple Support Communities!

We want to make sure the Apple Watch time is showing as you want.

Take these steps next to confirm the iPhone settings are correct:

"Check your settings

Check if you still need help after each step.

On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

  1. Make sure that you have the latest version of iOS or iPadOS.
  2. Turn on Set Automatically1 in Settings > General > Date & Time. This automatically sets your date and time based on your time zone.
  3. If a message appears saying that updated time zone information is available, restart your device and any paired Apple Watch.
  4. Allow your device to use its current location to determine the correct time zone. To do this, go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services and turn on Setting Time Zone.
  5. Check that your device shows the correct time zone in Settings > General > Date & Time > Time Zone."

This Apple Support page has the full details: If you can't change the time or time zone on your Apple device - Apple Support

If the issue continues and both devices are fully updated, please reach out to an Apple Support Advisor for further assistance: Get Support

We hope this helps to get the Apple Watch time to show correctly when the iPhone is not nearby.

Cheers!
