The last post I saw on this is from spring. It is now October, and we are into OS 12.6, but iTunes still syncs the entire album art each time, even if there are no changes. Are there any fixes to that yet?

Right now, you're able to change your Music preferences to automatically download album artwork. You can find out more info about this setting here: Change Advanced preferences in Music on Mac - Apple Support.

Thank you for answering. Unfortunately, your suggestions have nothing to do with my issue. Let me repeat: Each time I sync music between my Macbook Pro and my iPad, the ENTIRE artwork is transferred, even if there is only one album to sync.
All software is up to date; both Macbook and iPad a very recent.
