Can't install watchos 8.7.1 on my Apple Watch Series 3

Hi! I can't install watchos 8.7.1 on my apple watch. It's been stuck at "preparing" for hours. I have an apple watch series 3 (no cellular) 42mm. I have an Iphone 13 with ios 16.0.3. Now, I can't use my apple watch anymore. Please help.

The watchos came in as 8.7.1 and it got "downloaded to watch" after a long time and is now stuck at preparing. (its been 2 hours , progress bar has not even moved single dot). My phone runs on ios 16.0.3 which i believe is the latest. I tried restarting both phone and watch, resetting network settings, hard reseting watch and re-installing watch app on my phone but still no luck. please someone help me in this regard and will be really appreciated.

Can not pair Apple Watch Series 3 on IOS 16 Hi all, My iphone XR is running IOS 16, I paired my watch(Series 3) but it can't upgrade to watchos 8.7.1 At preparing update step is very slow( > 1 hours) it not continue. Now, my apple watch has restored factory setting, I can not pair and use it :( How do i fix please!

Unable to complete WatchOS 10.3 update (stuck at "Preparing") I have an Apple Watch version 7 and an iPhone 12 Pro. I updated the phone to iOS 17.3 and then tried to update the Watch to WatchOS 10.3, with wi-fi enabled and the Watch on its charger only a couple of feet away from the iPhone. The update seemed to go smoothly at first, but it then hung up during the "Preparing" stage, and remained that way for over an hour and a half. I finally had to remove the Watch from its charger so I could run a few errands, and then tried the update again later in the afternoon, with the same results. Has anyone else had this problem? And does anyone have a possible solution or workaround? The Watch continues to work just fine, but I've never had a problem with updates before and I'd really like to get this resolved. Thanks for any help you can offer!

If you are noticing an issue with the latest watchOS update installing, there are several troubleshooting steps that we’d suggest starting with.

- Make sure that your Apple Watch is fully charged and connected to a power cable.
- Restart your Apple Watch and your paired iPhone.
- Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone. Tap General > Software Update. Delete the update file before attempting to install the update again.
