Why does my iPhone 14 mini get uncomfortably hot, significantly shortening the battery charge?

No, in fact, on some of those days I only send an emoji to my two sons and receive their return emojis. Otherwise, I don’t talk text or use data at all. Yet the phone is hot and the battery is depleted in 8 to 9 hours.
My mistake, my iPhone 13 mini gets very hot and quickly loses it’s charge most days. About a third of the time it remains cool and holds its charge. Is this fixable?
Go to settings> battery> battery health and see the percentage stated there. IF this is below 80% you're battery is up for replacement

Are you using a specific app on those days that the battery has drained quickly?

Took the phone to Best Buy (as suggested by Apple) who ran diagnostics. Said nothing wrong with the phone. Hasn’t gotten hot since.
