Relocate Sound Library GREYED OUT

Hi everybody.

I read a lot of talks about this problem but none of them helped me to solve this problem.

I use Logic on a MacBookPro 15-inch, 2018 Monterey 12.6, internal HD 250GB.

I have always had more than one external drive always connected and backed up everything, but unfortunately the main one crashed last month and I had to make it restore to get back all lost data. I connected the new HD with the same name of the old one and where the complete Logic's library is stored and what happens it 's shown on the attached photo below:

Each HD is greyed out. I tried out very suggestion I found on the web but none of them helped. I deleted the sound library too... nothing.

Can anybody help me to solve the issue?

Thanks a lot in advance

Hi there, as I understand it, Sound Library Manager would grey out an eligible external HD/SSD that already has Sound Library files on it. Which is apparently the case with your external drive labeled 'EVERYTHING' (the other two drives are not eligible for relocation, for obvious reasons).

So, that being said, a typical remedy for this problem is to change the SL folder (i.e. "Library") on the 'EVERYTHING' drive to a different name (e.g. "Library-prev" or something like that). Before renaming the folder, I'd also quit Logic completely (i.e. Command+Q) and eject / reconnect the drive. Relaunch Logic after the folder is renamed. Hopefully, that solves your issue. Cheers!

I'd suggest to check what permissions are set for your 'EVERYTHING' drive. Select it in Finder, then right-click and select 'Get Info' from the drop-down context menu. In the window that opens, go to 'Sharing & Permissions' section at the bottom. It should be set to 'Read & Write' for your user account or (Me).

Also, make sure Logic itself has a permission to fully access the external drive in: System Preferences > Security & Privacy (pane) > Privacy (tab) > Files and Folders > tick 'Removable Volumes' under 'Logic Pro'
