I sold my Apple Watch after upgrading to iOS 16. My activity app ain’t tracking my progress on steps and move it’s just idle. Did an iOS upgrade didn’t work. Deleted and reinstalled the activity app and still doesn’t work.

Activity recording of workouts will cease to work without a watch.
iOS16 with no watch uses the new Fitness app which only records steps picked up by the phone. They will not show as a workout, just a red ring or partial ring
Remove the Fitness app associated with the watch
