Mac M1 external hdd spinning down frequently...

This questions has been brought up several times over the past year and no successful answers have been provided. My Lacie external HDD connected via thunderbolt3 keeps spinning down over and over. They only way to stop it is to restart my MBP. I have noticed that the drive will stay on after a restart bought if and when my screensaver takes over. The spinning down issue starts again as soon as I refresh my cpu from the screensaver. I have all the necessary boxes checked/unchecked in energy preferences and I don't have an option to turn off screen saver due to company policy on my laptop (screen saver or not this should not be happening and never once happened on my 2019 intel based MBP).

Hello dieterjames,

Is this behavior able to be reproduced when using a different external drive? Have you tested the drive on a different computer without the work restrictions in place on it?
