iMac auto power on with WiFi plug

Hi, I have an iMac connected to power via a WiFi enabled plug. I shutdown my iMac and then turn off the power via the WiFi plug app. Is there a way to force the iMac to power on when I turn the WiFi plug back on? I do not want to schedule an auto start each day. If I enable the option to auto turn on after a power failure this does not work with the scenario above. It seems that after a shutdown, I have to physically press the power button to turn it back on. My reason for wanting this is that when I am away, I turn as much power off as I can using WiFi enabled power sockets but occasionally may want to remote onto my iMac. Thanks in advance for any support.

Since you have to press the power button after you plug an iMac into a normal AC outlet, you will have to press it in your scenerio.
