Maps on iPhone

How to get Maps on iPhone to give spoken directions when in a car having Chrysler uConnect? I can't get Maps to speak, either on iPhone or on uConnect, if my iPhone is paired with uConnect.

Hi tb06,

Regarding spoken turn-by-turn directions using Apple Maps, this feature is not available in all countries or regions. You can find more in the guide here: Get driving directions in Maps on iPhone

You can also find helpful details here: Get turn-by-turn directions with CarPlay - Apple Support

Additionally, "If your vehicle has a Uconnect® 5 system, Apple CarPlay® support or Android Auto integration is included. Select Uconnect 4 systems (those with a 7-inch, 8.4-inch or 12-inch touchscreen) also include Apple CarPlay support or Android Auto integration. Older Uconnect systems (model year 2016 and earlier) do not support Apple CarPlay or Android Auto."

You can find the information above on the website here: DODGE BRAND APPLE CARPLAY® AND ANDROID AUTO FAQ

If the audio works for directions as when the device isn't connected, reach out to your car manufacture to further assist and adjust any audio options needed to ensure it works. Contact a third-party vendor - Apple Support

Cheers.

I'm in there US. I'm pretty sure spoken directions should work here. In fact they used to work fine until a few months ago, unfortunately, I'm not able to pinpoint the date at which they stopped working, since I don't need to use them unless traveling away from home. My car is a 2014 Chrysler Town & Country. What is so strange n ow is that spoken directions work as long as the car's. electronics are OFF. Whether I direct spoken output to the iPhone or to uConnect makes no difference. If I'm in the running car, spoken directions are silent.

Thanks for getting back with us about this, tb06.

Have you checked with Chrysler support to see if this is a feature that should be working on your vehicle? That would be a good next step if you've reviewed all of the support articles we provided above. There may be something that needs to be adjusted or customized to make this work as expected in your car, like possibly a firmware or software update to bring the vehicle back to compatibility with the most recent iOS updates.

Let us know what they have to say and we can proceed.

Thanks and take care.
