Resetting MacBook Pro

I just bought a Macbook Pro from my friend. We’ve already moved her important info off, the rest is in her cloud. How do I now clear her info off and reset it so that I can put my Apple ID in to set it up with my cloud details?

disconnecting the old user? Ive taken over my brothers old laptop, I've changed the Apple ID to my own but he is still connected to this one while using his other MacBook so I kee getting his files and vice versa , how do I disconnect his old Apple ID without deleting his active one that he uses, and is it possible to do so without having to completely reset this laptop so I don't lose all my files I have on here?

Click here and follow the instructions. If the computer originally shipped with Mac OS X 10.6.8 or earlier, instead of step 7, insert a compatible Mac OS X install DVD, restart with the C or Option key held down, use the Disk Utility to erase the internal drive, and install a fresh OS.
