Why can't I group text(send or receive) with an android user or send/receive photos with my iPhone14 Pro?

Please get an SMS plan enabled by your Carrier for the SIM that you use.
I have an SMS plan and this was not an issue until I upgraded to the iPhone14 Pro
My wife has the same problem but it started when she updated her iPhone 11 to iOS 16.
They have looked at everything but no answers so far. My carrier says it's a phone/iOS issue, Apple says it's a carrier issue.
