iPhone notification very loud when on call?

I am having the exact same issue. To the point that I get a ringing in my ear after this happens. it’s is extremely loud. never had this issue until I got an iPhone 14 pro max on the latest software.

while on a call and the phone on my ear, if any notification comes in -text-email-other apps- it notifies me at full volume on the same speaker that is being used for the call. Therefore causing pain in ear and leaving a ringing sound for minutes or hours after.

what is the solution? I’ve reset the phone already and issue still persist.

I’m also having the same issue with my iPhone 14 Pro. While on a call, whether it’s up to my ear or on speaker phone, all notifications are as loud as they normally are when not on a call. And it’s deafening! It wasn’t always like this, it started randomly (possibly linked to the last update?). I have tried all sound settings, restarted my phone and updated to iOS 16.1 but the problem persists.

Does this happen with all notifications or just some?

As this sounds like it might be a software related issue instead of a volume issue, try a normal restart of the iPhone next.
