I want to connect my iPhone to a WiFi network with no internet

I’m trying to connect my iPhone (iOS 16) to my canon camera. To do this I should be able to connect to the camera WiFi and then use the app to transfer images. It worked fine until today and now my iPhone refuses to connect to the network because it’s not an internet connection.

it tells me it’s connected but the WiFi symbol isn’t showing in the top right and it tells me I need to connect to a network with internet. I’ve restarted both phone and camera. Reset the network settings on both phone and camera and taken battery and sd card out of the camera but nothing has fixed it.

I’ve tried looking online for solutions but they keep pushing me towards connecting to a WiFi network with internet rather connecting to one without.
