Samsung m2880FW Scanner not recognized by m1 Mac Mini

M1 Mac Mini os12.6.

I downloaded drivers and the Samsung Easy PrinterManager. The printer on the m2880fw is recognized and working but the scanner is not. I ran the Printer installer and the ICDM installer. I see in the MAC_ICDM>Data>Payload what looks like an extension icon named Samsung Scanner but I don't know what to do with it, if anything. Also hooked the scanner directly to the computer with a USB cable as suggested but no further drivers were apparently installed automatically. Any help is appreciated.

Mac mini, macOS 12.6

If you cannot resolve the scanner side of the SL-M2880FW with HP (aka Samsung) software, or Apple's Image Capture, then the paid (free trial) VueScan Professional supports this scanner without any vendor or Apple drivers.
