ecobee with Siri and HomePod

I have 2 HomePod minis, 1 HomePod, and an ecobee SmartThermostat. The ecobee is an overall sub-par experience. I have the HomePod in the kitchen adjacent to the living room where the thermostat is. They will both answer simultaneously, set duplicate timers, etc. I thought they were supposed to prioritize based on the voice's clarity to determine proximity and respond on the closer device. Is there anything being done to fix this? It doesn't seem to happen upstairs where both the office and the bedroom have a HomePod mini. They seem to determine which is closer to the voice and respond on that one.

Being closer does play a part if the mic picks up your voice. The only method where you can choose one over another is by stereo pairing two.. In this scenario you would set that up by pressing on one to summon Siri and thereafter Siri will set that one as the default. I do feel sometimes on mine, the one that answers is the last one I used but I could be wrong.

As to your question, nothing can be done about which device answers. It would be nice to say “hey kitchen pod” or ”hey apple watch” . You can send a suggestion not Apple for consideration: Product Feedback - Apple
