Playing Spotify in the Car via aux cable

My iPhone 8 stops playing Spotify after a few songs when I'm listening in the car via a lightning/aux cable. fyi-my car doesn't have bt for music listening and I have to have the iPhone vol at max to get it lots y enough whilst playing through the car stereo. This is driving me nuts! Help!!!

So I do not have an apple music subscription; so, I am not signed into that app and instead use Spotify. When I try to connect our car’s aux usb the screen says that there are no compatible files to play and will not let me play music from spotify. It does work with bluetooth and with iphones that do pay for apple music. I have an iphone 14 and the latest ios, plus, this also has happened with older iphone models. Our car is a 2018 toyota 4runner and the same issue occurs with other toyota cars at least past 2015. Does anyone know how to fix this without paying for apple music(a long term solution w/o using free trials and bluetooth)? Much appreciated!!

USB music on iOS 17 ive updated my iPhone 13 Pro Max to new iOS 17.0.3 and my phone will no longer play Spotify though usb in the car. I’ve tried it with my dad 14 plus on same software won’t play either. My partner hasn’t updated to iOS 17 yet and his worked fine. This is so annoying as Bluetooth it istempremental on the car. Anyone else experienced this or know of a fix

Music/Video automatically plays when I plug in Aux to my iPhone Anytime I plug in my aux cord in my car to my iPhone 15, it automatically plays music from Spotify or YouTube. I can’t find the setting to turn this off. its not apple music, I deleted that. It’s not the car, the auto play feature is turned off. dont tell me “there isn’t an option for that” to turn it off, you need to make one immediately. I don’t want anything to start automatically playing, ever. This is unacceptable. Give me an option to turn off this idiotic feature immediately. [Re-Titled by Moderator]

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

When did this start happening? What is the exact iOS version of your iPhone? Go to Settings > General > About > Version. What is the exact error message, if any, you receive? If you increase the volume on the car radio, are you able to lower the volume on your iPhone?

These answers will allow us to isolate the cause.
