How do I get an app specific password?

I changed my Apple password and now Outlook (Windows computer) cannot pull in my iCloud email.

I think I previously used an app specific password. So I am confused.

I need information on what parameters to use to get this working again.

My IMAP settings say to remember password.

The server is imap.mail.me.com Port 993.

Encryption method is SSL/TLS.

Should I "Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)?

Thanks for any information you can provide.

Hello Bobcpa_Lou,

Thank you for reaching out to Apple Support Communities, and we'll be happy to help in any way we can. We understand you're having issues with an app specific password. Check out the steps here to remove it: Sign in to apps with your Apple ID using app-specific passwords - Apple Support

"How to revoke an app-specific password

You can have up to 25 active app-specific passwords. If you need to, you can revoke passwords individually or all at once.

  1. Sign in to appleid.apple.com.
  2. In the Sign-In and Security section, select App-Specific Passwords.
  3. Select the Remove button A minus sign inside of a circle. next to a password you want to delete, or Revoke All.

After you revoke a password, the app using that password will be signed out of your account until you generate a new password and sign in again.

Any time you change or reset your primary Apple ID password, all of your app-specific passwords are revoked automatically to protect the security of your account. You need to generate new app-specific passwords for any apps that you want to continue using."

If iCloud Mail isn't working, try the steps listed here to see if they resolve the issue: If iCloud Mail isn't working - Apple Support

We hope this helps.

Cheers!
