iPhone keeps playing after removing AirPods Pro 2.Gen

Hi Apple Community,

when I listen to music (Spotify) or audio books (audible) on my new AirPods Pro 2.Gen and I remove them from my ears, the iPhone (13 Pro on current iOS 16.0) occasionally keeps playing on speaker.

This never happened with my previous AirPods Pro.

This is very annoying especially when I am in a quiet environment.

Is there a way to fix this?

Thank you very much!

iPhone 13 Pro, iOS 16

Hello falcster,

We'd like to look into what's going on with your AirPods. Is Automatic Ear Detection on or off? You can check that by going to Settings > Bluetooth on your iPhone. Alternatively, you can go to Settings > AirPods.

If Automatic Ear Detection is enabled, "when you have Automatic Ear Detection on and you're not wearing your AirPods, audio plays through your device's speakers." You can find out more about this feature in Change the settings of your AirPods and AirPods Pro - Apple Support

Let us know if adjusting this setting gives the results you were looking for.

Regards.
