OS Monterey using too much storage for system data
Why is OS Monterey using so much storage for system data?
It's using 291GB of the 526 GB used!
iMac 21.5″, macOS 12.6

Solved my own problem.
In finder > Mac HD> Users> (I had "deleted users" here, with my wife and myself listed.) This was almost a complete duplication of both of our users. That explained half the "System Data". Deleted "Deleted Users" and it dropped down to 42 GB of System Data.
