Widgets for ipads

Why can’t IPads have extra large widgets on the Home Screen with the size of the iPads screen I don’t see why it’s like that ?

IPad Air IOS 12.5.6 Widgets I can’t seem to find the widgets on my iPad Air using IOS 12.5.6. I try holding down an open space on my home screen to see “+” sign, but no luck. I know I must be doing something stupid but can’t figure out what?
