garageband - volume adjustments not moving

Hi!

I'm currently using garageband to edit a podcast, and use the volume tool on each person who's talking to bring their sound up and down at various points (when the other is talking and don't want to hear the other persons mic). Sometimes I need to go back and edit out certain sections, when I do that and shift the clips to the left the volume adjustments don't move with it. So I then have to go through and re-edit those volume on those sections. Is there a way to get the volume adjustments to lock with the clips so they move together?
