iMessage search bar vanishes on iPad

Swiping from top just pulls down notifications, so don’t please suggest that. Don’t offer link to update iPad, that’s not the issue

If hidden, a simple downward swipe within the Messages sidebar will expose the Search dialogue.

How to fix iPad iMessage showing 1 unread message? On iPad iMessage shows 1 unread message when there are none. Someone suggested signing out of iMessages. This does work. You can also shut down and restart the iPad to remove the nonfunctional icon. These fixes are band aids not permanent fixes. Apple needs to correct this. Come on Apple fix your software.
