.xlsx export from Numbers does not import into InDesign

I have a Numbers spreadsheet. I export to .xlsx format so I can import into InDesign, where I get the error message: Cannot place this file. No filter found for requested operation. The only fix I see is opening the file in Excel, saving as .xlsx. Is that the only workaround? Exporting twice? Ugh.

Number not saving CSV file correctly I'm saving a CSV file on Numbers and it's not separating the columns, instead it's bringing all the data into one column. When I open the file on a text editor normally columns in a CSV are separated by commas (,) and in the CSV I export from Numbers the columns are separated by semi-colons (;). Does anyone know why this is happening?

Numbers can't save changes to Excel files but can export Excel files? I have an Excel file someone sent me. I made some modifications to it and tried to save the file, but it started asking me where I wanted to save the file for some reason. Picking a location creates a new file in the Numbers format for some reason. It made me think it may not be possible to create or save Excel files in Numbers, but it IS possible. But you have to create a NEW Excel file every time you make changes for some reason. You do this by exporting whatever file you're working with as an Excel file (i.e. exporting an Excel file as an Excel file...???). Is it possible to just save the file I'm working with without these unnecessary extra steps? This is highly cumbersome and I can't fathom a technical excuse to justify this.

Did you try to export as .xls?

You should contact InDesign support if they know an answer on the topic.

The .xlsx file from Numbers can not be totally wrong, if Excel can read it without any error message.
