Why is Find My messed up?

I have always had Find My on for my iPad and iPhone. I have always been able to go places without my iPad with no problem. But since I updated to iOS 15.7, I can’t go anywhere without getting a time sensitive notification that my iPad is nowhere near me. I don’t want to turn it off in case it’s stolen, but can it be turned down so I can go further away than 10 feet?

You can turn off notify when left behind: Set up and use Notify When Left Behind in the Find My app - Apple Support

Oh thank you. I was able to leave it on but add my home as a don’t notify location.
