AirPods 2 no audio with Smart TVs

AirPods 2 pair with my Samsung smart TV but there is no audio. I always used my AirPods 1 with my Samsung SmartTV, so it is not a compatibility issue but an issue with this firmware/model. Tried several times and with different AirPods 2. In other forums it seems to be a major and widespread issue affecting Samsung and LG smart TVs.

Hi lbvn,

For help with connecting AirPods to a non-Apple device, test the steps below found in the article here: Set up AirPods with your Mac and other Bluetooth devices

"Use AirPods with a non-Apple device

You can use AirPods as a Bluetooth headset with a non-Apple device. You can't use Siri, but you can listen and talk. To set up your AirPods with an Android phone or other non-Apple device,3 follow these steps:

  1. On your non-Apple device, go to the settings for Bluetooth and make sure that Bluetooth is on.4 If you have an Android device, go to Settings > Connections > Bluetooth.
  2. With your AirPods in the charging case, open the lid.
  3. Press and hold the setup button on the back of the case until the status light flashes white.
  4. When your AirPods appear in the list of Bluetooth devices, select them."

If the issue continues, follow the steps here: If your AirPods won't connect

Hello,

Thank you for your reply.

Sound levels are correct, and the AirPods Pro 2 are clean.

I tested it with two brand-new pairs of AirPods Pro 2 out-of-the-box, experiencing in both cases the same no-audio issue. Browsing online, it seems that all AirPods Pro 2 are experiencing this no-audio issue when paired to a Samsung smart tv (and sometime LG too).

The audio works when connected with other devices.

Hey lbvn,

Understood. Thanks for clarifying that. Make sure the sound levels are adjusted appropriately on the iPhone while the AirPods are connected: Adjust the volume on iPhone. Also make sure that the AirPods are clean, as lint or debris could be impacting the physical speaker or microphone: How to clean your AirPods and EarPods - Apple Support

Also if you connect the AirPods to another device, do you still not hear sound? This will help us isolate the issue a little more.
