Unable to return found airpods

I found 2 Airpod Pros and their case, all scattered around at the side of a road. I'm guessing someone riding a bike dropped them. I brought them home and cleaned them up, and my wife's iPhone started notifying her that the owner of the Airpods can see their location. We waited a while, and I posted about them in Lost & Found on Craigslist. They weren't found at a mall or someplace that has a lost and found, so there is no way to locate the owner.

Assuming the owner never shows up at my door or answers the CL ad, will they just reset and behave like new Airpods?
