My watch started asking me for password verification but has no keyboard

I have an 8.7 Apple Watch that’s ~2 years old. It suddenly started asking me for password verification. I can’t enter a password as it doesn’t have a keyboard (I checked). I can’t download a keyboard as I can’t enter my password for the App Store. It seems to be working (though not quite fully) and I did do a hard reset (I usually only have to enter my numerical passcode), but I would really like it to be fully functional and would appreciate any suggestions. Thank you!

First try a normal restart and if still problem try a forced restart:

Restart your Apple Watch - Apple Support

Next would be to:

Unpair and erase your Apple Watch

Set up your Apple Watch

Sometimes you have to setup as new and not from backup since there may be some corruption in the backup that is causing the problem.

This happened on my S6 watch last year. I could scribble the password and there was also a button in the screen that said I could enter the password on the paired and connected iPhone. Is there still an option to enter on phone?

Thanks! I just did a forced restart as the restart previously did not help. Now it’s just asking me to enter my password if I want to continue using FaceTime on my watch, which I don’t. I don’t even have FaceTime on my watch. So hopefully, the restart helped 🤞🏼

I have not had a problem since the forced restart. It was interesting that the Apple instructions said not to do a forced restart unless the watch wasn’t responding. I did it anyway and thank you so much!

In the watch app try signing out and back in again.
