SuperDrive won't eject disc I have an Apple SuperDrive with a disc that will not eject no matter what I do. When I hit eject, it unmounts, doesn't come out of the drive, then immediately re-mounts itself. I have tried a number of different things, including: Ejecting from Finder (with right click as well) Ejecting from Desktop (with right click as well) Ejecting by dragging the icon to the Trash icon Restarting the computer Restarting the computer in safe mode/single user mode/etc to eject the disc/drive from there Unplugging the drive and plugging it into a different iMac and then a Macbook Air Using Disk Utility to eject/unmount the disc/drive Using Disk Utility to eject repair the disc (it shows no issues) Every now and then (but not always) an error message shows up stating the disc cannot be ejected--but then the error resolves itself, unmounts the disc, doesn't eject it, and re-mounts it again. I have searched extensively and cannot seem to find an answer for people with a similar issue (what shows up the most is help relating to discs ejecting themselves when they aren't supposed to). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

my computer has quit "seeing" my apple superdrive. my computer has quit "seeing" my apple superdrive. It will not eject a disc and pressing the eject icon or command E does nothing. Any ideas how to make this work again?

Mac Studio (OS Sequoia) not recognising SuperDrive My old SuperDrive, which up until recently has been working reliably for years, has suddenly stopped accepting discs on my Mac Studio running Sequoia. It was fine until I updated the OS. It was plugged into USB-C with a USB to USB-C adapter, and has worked perfectly everytime for 12 months. Just in case it was the adapter, I plugged it into the USB port on the rear and it worked for a day or so, then suddenly stopped accepting discs again. So I booted up my old iMac (Late 2012) running Catalina. This is the Mac I've been using the SuperDrive on since 2012, and it never skipped a beat. And lo and behold, it worked first go, just like it always has. I immediately plugged the SuperDrive back into the Studio Mac, and again, nothing. Is it possible the latest OS isn't as compatible with the old SuperDrive? Has anyone else had this issue?

I have a Hyper dock that plugs into the side of the MacBook. I am plugging into the USB port on the Hyper dock. Does that interfere with power for the drive. Would plugging with an adapter directly from the port on the MacBook to SuperDrive.

A SuperDrive has to be plugged directly into a port. You would need an adapter.

What kind of USB adapter are you using? The superdrive does not like hubs.

Ok I unplugged the dock and plugged in the SuperDrive directly with a usb connector and it worked. Now I need to find a way to leave the drive connected with everything.

Well, at least you know the drive works. One person claimed it would work in a powered hub. However, it doesn't work in my powered hub.
