Can AirPods Pro 2 be used as hearing aids?

OK, perhaps I asked the wrong question. I should have said, " Can AirPods Pro 2 improve hearing for someone with mild hearing loss?" And at the risk of answering my own question, I'm already seeing that, in Transparency mode, my ears are detecting spoken words that I don't otherwise hear well enough to understand. So I'm wondering what others have found to be the most effective Settings for either the AirPods or their phone - or even their Apple Watch - to maximize this effect?
