iMessages taking up all iPhone storage

I recently switched from XR to Pro 13, and I have 2TB iCloud storage. However my iPhone storage is now full and my phone crashes and glitches because 95% of the storage is taken up by iMessages. My XR was 64GB and iMessages only took up about 8-10GB of iPhone storage. My 13 Pro is 128GB and for some reason iMessages are now taking up 88GB of storage. I have always had a lot of messages and never deleted any of my top conversations, but they were always stored on iCloud. Why are they taking up so much space now? Please help!

Hi tini_777,

We understand you set up a new device and see a higher-than-expected amount of storage used by Messages. To confirm, you're using Messages in iCloud under Settings > [name] > iCloud, correct? If you are, we recommend contacting us directly in order to look into this issue. You can reach out using this link: Apple Support

Take care.
