Headphones/microphone Problem

Today I got a mini microphone to plug into my phone but it didn’t have the right port so I got an adapter. I plugged it in and it asked me “is this device headphones or other device?” And I guess I wasn’t thinking and I clicked “headphones” and now I cant fix it at all! It doesn’t pick up my voice because it assumes it’s a pair of headphone now. Someone PLEASEEEE help ASAP! I need to know if there is any way to change it back to a microphone

Hi Addy1235!

Are you able to see that message again if you unplug your mini microphone and adapter, then restart your iPhone? Restart your iPhone - Apple Support Restarting will restart the iOS and may help that message appear again.

Another step you can take is to ensure your iPhone is fully updated, to see if that may help as well since updates can includes fixes for issues. You can check for an update in Settings > General > Software Update. If there is an available update, you'll want to backup before updating as seen in here: How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

This article also shows how to update with a computer if that is your preferred method: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Let us know how those steps go or if you've already tried those.

Take care.
