AirPods won’t verify since update ios 16

Since the update My apple AirPods (2nd generation) won’t verify when connected. The headphones are real I purchased from the Apple Store and I even double checked my serial number with apple’s website. I’ve forgotten the device and re added but same message appears! I’m wondering if it’s because my warranty is expired and that’s why they can’t be verified. It’s super frustrating any ideas?
