Use of applecare in Europe

I’m buying an iPhone 14 pro and I’m considering buying AppleCare (all in the US). Spending a lot of in Europe I heard that if you use AppleCare there they cannot charge you for the repairs because the Applecare was purchased in the US. So basically you only pay a one time fee when you purchase the phone and nothing else if you have an AppleCare US and need to have it fix in Europe. Is that correct?

Historically, that is not true.

The warranty and AppleCare or AppleCare+ are only valid in the country where the device was originally sold.

It may be possible to have some simple repairs such as display or battery replacement done outside the country of original sale, but you shouldn’t count on it, and you definitely should not count on it being covered.

Anything more complex or requiring device replacement can almost never be done outside the country of origin.

Ok. I got this information from an Apple Store worker in France he did mention that it would take some time to fix because of the esim model vs the physical sim model and they will have to ship it most probably. But still told me that they will be no charge for it to be fix. I was just talking about AppleCare not AppleCare+
