Seems to have started when my iPhone updated to 16.0.2.

"Some photos cannot be added to your Photo library because they may be an unrecognizable format or the file may not contain valid data." No photos transfer, however, I can get a iphone screenshot to transfer.

My experience as well is this issue is related to the iOs 16.0.2 update. I've already checked to use most compatible photo settings on the iPhone and two weeks ago before the updates, the importing to Photos on the mac worked fine.

I've tried on a separate Mac using the same operating system running 10.13.6 with Photos Version 3.0 (3291.13.230). Even with the iTunes update, either computer will not import any photo from the iPhone giving the same error code ImageCapturecore error -9937. This is also true while trying to import using the image capture app.

Yes, I have tried to rebuild the Photos library by holding down the command option while starting Photos. No change. Also tried a different "apple" branded cable. No change.

No, I do not use iCloud on either computer or phone.

Another bit of info is both computers see and can communicate with the iPhone to view the thumbnail images in Photos and image capture apps, but will not import, giving the -9937 error message.

Please help? Thank you in advance.

Over the years a similar problem has occurred occasionally and sometimes it will resolve itself after a few days, whether it is restarts or tiny updates. Some of the old fixes that do not help this time,

On the iPhone I set camera format to "more compatible" rather than latest compression (HEIC, etc.) , I also tried settings for photos to automatically import images rather than keep on iphone which is supposed to convert them to the most compatible format to transfer to the computer. Did not work.

Sometimes iTunes pops up a message that software has to be downloaded to use the iPhone with the computer. It did happen with latest version IOS 16.0.2, but no changes from it in photo import.

One guy solved it, he said, by moving the USB cord to another port on the mac. Nope.

It has been several weeks now.

Since it coincides with the latest iphone update I hope Apple will patch this right away. I suppose an update to the image capture core might do it, but I have seen no updates for that, either.

Thanks for any suggestions!
