locked out of my phone

I was given an iphone to try as i have never had one. I began a setuop and stopped I couldnt remember my 4 digit code and after so many tries i am locked out What do i do to get into it?

The default code size has been six digits for many (perhaps ten) years. You would have had to go to some trouble to forego some security and create a four digit code.
