Hello there,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand your 'Ask to Buy' setting isn't quite working from your child's device to yours. Let's walk through a few steps that should help.

If Ask to Buy isn't working - Apple Support

Since you've already checked for iOS updates, and restarted all devices, next let's check your Apple ID sign-in.

On your iPhone:

  1. Go to Settings > [your name] > Family Sharing
  2. Tap your name.
  3. Make a note of the Apple ID that you're using.
  4. Go back to Settings.
  5. Tap your name, tap Media & Purchases, then tap View Account.
  6. Make sure that you're using the same Apple ID.

Review your Family Sharing settings
If you're the family organizer, you can go to your Settings or System Preferences to see if your family members' accounts have Ask to Buy turned on.

1. Go to Settings.
2. Tap your name, then tap Family Sharing.
3. If you're the family organizer, make sure that Purchase Sharing is turned on. Then you can tap a family member's name to see if Ask to Buy is turned on for their account.

If you still aren't able to get Ask to Buy working for your son or see the requests on your devices, reply back with additional details.

Best regards.
