192.168.1.1 does not work

Friends, my Mac can't access 192.168.1.1. 19216811. is the default gateway for my D-Link DIR-816 router. I've tried unplugging it a few times and trying to access 192.168.1.1 again, but it didn't work 😟 I recently got a Mac so don't know what the process is. Can someone help me access and configure my router with the 192.168.1.1 IP address!

I got help from this site here

Use a Local Contention:

Connect to your router with an Ethernet cable. If you have no Ethernet port, then this may be the adapter to use: The Belkin USB-C to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter - Apple. Proceed with the confirmations from there.

Let's start by taking a look at your Mac's network settings. To do so, on your Mac, go to System Preferences > Network > Ethernet OR Wi-Fi (depending on how you connect your Mac to the local network). What is the value for IP Address? It should be something in the 192.168.1.x range. On the other hand, if it starts with 169.x.x.x, it would be a "self-assigned" address, and cannot access the local router to get its proper IP address.

Tesserax is right, you need to check your Mac's network settings, if your Mac's IP address is auto obtained, then the gateway address is also your router's IP address, it doesn't have to be 192.168.1.1, it can also be 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.2.1, if you still can't access your router, check here for more info.

Also, you need to make sure there isn't any firewall rules blocking you visiting router's gateway address.
