Mac mail says I have an unread email in the Unread smart mailbox, but I don't.
No mailbox shows a count of unread mail except "Unread" which remains stubbornly on 1.
I've rebuilt the smart mailbox for Unread and my All inBoxes.

Check to see if this continues in safe mode: How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support Safe mode will help us rule out whether this is specific to your user account. This can help us determine if login items, or software installed on your user account may be contributing to the behavior.
