the scanner failed to complete the overview scan

I'm running MAC OS 10.15.7

Since a few days I can scan once just after rebooting my Mac in using system parameters / printer & scanner

Two weeks ago it was working like a charm. I guess this is related to one automatic update that occurred silently on my Mac.

Once the scan has executed once, i get systematically the scanner failed to complete the overview scan

The printer/scanner is a HP Envy 6030 using the latest available version for HP Smart

I've tried WIFI connection and also USB connection

I can no longer use the scanner neither from Aperçu nor printer settings nor HP Smart app.

I cannot update the system to Big Sur, because my MAC is too old (end 2012). I just replaced the hard drive with an SSD to get good performances

Hello Vinfred,

Thank you for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

Let's remove and reinstall the drivers found here: HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads

Let's also try the steps outlined here:

"Solve scanning problems on Mac

If you want to scan but can’t find your scanner in the list of available scanners, or if the scan doesn’t finish, try these solutions.

For information about using Continuity Camera to scan images, see Insert photos and scans with Continuity Camera.

Note: The solutions described below might be slightly different for your scanner. If these instructions differ from what you see onscreen, refer to the documentation that came with the app you’re using.

  • Make sure the scanner is plugged into an electrical outlet and turned on, and that its cables are securely connected.
  • If you previously saw a scanning option and you don’t see one anymore, try deleting the scanner (or multifunction printer) and adding it again.
  • If you’re pressing a button on your scanner to perform the scan, try using an app instead, such as Image Capture or Preview, or go to the scanner manufacturer’s website to see what other apps are recommended. See Scan an image using Image Capture.
  • If the scanner is connected to the USB port on an AirPort base station, connect the scanner to a USB port on your Mac.
  • If more than one user is logged in to your Mac, log out every user. Then log in again and try to scan."

More details can be found here: Solve scanning problems on Mac

If the issue persists, can you provide a few more details? Are you able to test your scanner with another computer or device?

Cheers!
