Too many attempts on Apple Watch 7

Since updating my watch 2 days ago I’ve been getting a message on my watch saying “Too many attempts” wait 5 minutes. The next morning, fresh out the charger, it said wait 55 minutes! No one has been trying to unlock my watch and it’s only happened since update. Anyone know how to fix this?
