I own a 2009 MacBook Pro running El Capitan. How do I transfer my iTunes library of CD download to my iPhone 13 pro?

Plug your iPhone into the Mac with a Lightning to USB cable and follow the steps here: link-> Use iTunes to sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod with your computer - Apple Support

The Mac may prompt for an update, just accept it if it does.

The update is not for your macOS version, its just a small firmware update to access the iPhone.

The transfer works on way only, from Computer to iPhone, if you want to extract the music from an iOS device, then you will need a third party App.
