Wrong holiday calendar keeps reappearing

I have set my iPhone to the german region. But the calendar app is still showing the US-holidays calendar. If I switch the region, force quit the calendar app, and then switch back to the german region, the german holidays are shown in the app. But in system Settings -> Calendar -> Accounts -> Fetch New Data, it still shows the entry for US Holidays and after a while, the US holidays reappear in the calendar app. I contacted the support and we tried to reset my iPhone from a backup, but it did not solve this problem. Can anyone help me with this issue?

Thank you for the feedback. Unfortunately, this did not help, or rather, the setting did not work permanently. In the calendar app, the German holiday calendar was displayed again for the time being, but in the system settings under Fetch New Data, the US Holiday calendar is still displayed. As soon as I update the calendars in the app, the German holiday calendar disappears and the US calendar is displayed again. I do not have this problem on my iPad, although the same AppleID is used.

Thank you for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. Just to be sure that the holiday calendar was configured properly for the German region. Did you follow these steps:

Change your primary holiday calendar to a different region

1. Go to Settings > General > Language & Region, then tap Region.

2. Tap a region, then tap Change to [region].

3. In Calendar, tap Calendars at the bottom of the screen.

4. Deselect the Holidays calendar, then select it again.

Note: To subscribe to a holiday calendar from a different region, see Set up multiple calendars on iPhone.
