Apple Watch SE LTE receives all calls in schooltime mode

Hi,

my son has an Apple Watch SE with eSIM plan, but not with familiy setup (we live in Austria, and family setup is not available through our service providers).

When at school he sets the schooltime mode. But for a reason i can´t understand all calls are shown on the watch (vibrating) during schooltime, and he even can answer the calls. It´s not that i would´nt be confident in him not answering calls during lessons, but the teachers could see the watch showing calls and be angry with him, or even confiscate the watch.

Not only (emergency or not) contacts ring on the watch during schooltime, but all kinds of calls do, also unknown numbers.

What could be wrong here? Is there any setting to define whether calls are shown in schooltime or not? Btw it´s the same with cinema mode: When his watch is set to cinema mode it vibrates with every call.

Best

Hello rocco124-e,

To help with Schooltime, we recommend starting by reviewing the schedule to make sure it's set as expected.

Get started with Schooltime on Apple Watch

Set up Schooltime
1. Open the Apple Watch app on the iPhone used to manage the watch.
2. Tap My Watch, tap Family Watches, then tap a watch.
3. Tap Done, then tap Schooltime.
4. Turn on Schooltime, then tap Edit Schedule.
5. Choose the days and times you want Schooltime to be active on the watch.
6. Tap Add Time if you want to set up multiple schedules during a day—from 8:00 a.m. to noon and then 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., for example.

Also, it's worth checking to see if Schooltime was accidentally exited:

"Exit Schooltime

Your family member can temporarily exit Schooltime—to check their activity rings, for example.

Tap the display, press and hold the Digital Crown, then tap Exit.

If you exit Schooltime during scheduled hours, the Schooltime watch face returns when you lower your wrist. During non-scheduled hours, Schooltime remains inactive until the next scheduled start time, or until you tap the Schooltime button in Control Center."

If this doesn't help, we recommend contacting us directly with the following link: Apple Support

Best Regards.

Hey rocco124-e,

Make sure all devices are up to date. This can often resolve issues that may be appearing with different apps and services. You can read how to update below:

Update your Apple Watch

1. On your iPhone, open the Apple Watch app, then tap the My Watch tab.
2. Tap General > Software Update.
3. Download the update. If asked for your iPhone passcode or Apple Watch passcode, enter it.
4. Wait for the progress wheel to appear on your Apple Watch. It could take from several minutes to an hour for the update to complete.

 Update your iPhone or iPad

1. Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
2. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
3. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
4. Choose the software update that you want to install. You can choose to stay on iOS or iPadOS 15 and still get important security updates. Or you can choose the option to upgrade to iOS or iPadOS 16.
5. Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now

If the issue continues after that, you can reach out to Apple Support to look further into this with you:
