CarPlay not working

at a random point yesterday, my phone stopped connecting to my car. I’ve been through many forums and I’m not finding any answers that make sense. I’ve tried hard resets of the phone (iPhone 13 Pro, iOS 16.0) and the infotainment system in my car (2020 Subaru Outback). selected “forget the phone” on the infotainment and “forget the car” in the carplay settings. to ensure it was device specific, i tested another phone and it connected to my car just fine (still running iOS 15). any suggestions would be appreciated.
