Rearranging bookmark folders

Trying to rearrange bookmark folders in safari, but dragging does not work & sorting seems to only do the individual bookmarks within a folder. So what works?

Safari bookmark FOLDER organization I simply want to rearrange my bookmark folders so they appear in alphabetical order (just to be clear I am not referring to the actual bookmarks, but folders that I have created). I have tried clicking on and dragging a folder to another location, but it becomes a subfolder! I have looked on the web, but the only answers I find are for sorting actual bookmarks. Any ideas?

Bookmark Troubleshooting At Apple's suggestion I'm asking this question again.. hoping for some help... I'm trying to organise a mountain of bookmarks, but can't reposition the folders - i.e. I have 20 numerical folders that I want to organise numerically.. Simple you would think... I've tried drag and drop in the bookmarks bar and I've tried the same in 'Edit bookmarks' but each time Safari simply drops the folder inside the nearest adjacent folder, rather than BETWEEN the two other folders. Then if I drag it out, safari drops it inside the next nearest closed folder and so on... Is there something I'm missing, or a method of moving them to a position between two other folders, rather than inside another closed folder? Thanks

How to move a bookmark folder in Safari? I had my bookmarks sorted alphabetically. But somehow a folder containing many web addresses called Bridge has moved and become attached to the bottom of one called Birding, as a sub-folder. And I can't seem to put it back. I have tried moving it within the sidebar with the trackpad, but that doesn't work, and actually only confuses things even more. 14" M1 Macbook Pro with Monterey 12.6. How can I do this? Thanks in advance.

Found it! Click Bookmarks then click Edit Bookmarks and THEN dragging works
