Issue with stabilization of GH6 Footage (It makes it worse!!)

Hello folks,

I've got a problem that I wasn't able to solve. Was wondering if anyone has a similar issue?

I do lots of social media work and my combo has over the years been Panasonic GH5, GH5s and for editing FCPX.

Was impressed how good stabilisation worked with any footage. Nailed it 9/10 times without any adjustments.

However, I've recently pruchased Panasonic GH6 and I dont know what the heck is going on. Whenever I stabilaze a clip, it makes things worse. It's litterlay 50% more shaky than it was before.

I've run various test, it works on GH5 (IBIS) and GH5s (No IBIS) but won't work with GH6 (IBIS).

Is there anyone who could help or tell the FCPX team they need to look into this or put it in their next update because otherwise I can't continue using FCPX.

Cheers & Thank you.

Hello JF,

I got the same problem with sony A7sii footage regularly. I know there's a lot of complaints about this for many years without real resolution for the moment.

The unique issue i found, after a long search, is to transcode your footages in optimized files and export like this selecting "Better Performance" in the viewer.

Let me know if that work and if you find an other solution.

Hey Cordially,

sorry to hear you have the same issue, haha!

Never had this before with any camera, just now with the GH6.

Okay, cool I'll certainly try that! But after importing "omptimized" footage, will have to export and import again?

Thanks for your tip!
