connect new iMac mini to old imac mini

I am interested in a new mac mini. Can i used my old mac mini as ssd or backup?

The old Mac mini can not be used for backup like an external drive. It can however be networked with the new Mac mini using File and Screen Sharing, then be used as a File and Media Server.
